Nykaa
Nail Enamels or their nail polish collection launched in November last year (I
think). The only reason why the collection caught my eye is because of the
abundance of pastel shades. It really reflects how the brand understands women
& what they want. When Maybelline Colorshow range released I was happy that
it has so many shades at an affordable price, but my heart always longs for
pastel colors. Therefore I picked out polishes from the Pastel range of Nykaa
Nail Enamels.
Nykaa Claims :
What
it does: The exclusive high-reflection nail polish formula guarantees one
stroke, high gloss, gel-like perfection. The patented two-fold plasticizer
prevents chipping. Contains a UV filter to prevent discoloration and yellowing.
Smooth and gorgeous coverage in a single coat, stunning, plumping effect in two
coats! Now love your nails with vibrant, fashion forward colors that last and
last.
What
is it formulated WITHOUT : The Nykaa Pastel Nail Enamel Collection is FIVE
FREE. The nail polish formulas are not only made without the three most common
chemicals found in nail polishes (Toluene, DBP and Formaldehyde), but also
without two other very dangerous chemicals (Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor).
The Nykaa Pastel Nail Enamel Collection is NOT tested on animals and contains
no animal-derived ingredients.
I
picked up Hasta La Pista (64) & Mint Meringue (65). I like
about them is how the name reflects the shade.
Hasta
La Pista is a pistachio-colored green shade with a cream finish.
Mint
meringue is a proper mint blue color with cream finish, in the pictures it
comes off as a sky blue color (ugh, my camera) but if you see it in person,
it’s a greenish tinged blue.
For
shade color, I give full points to Nykaa, I got exactly what I expected. Also,
both shades look very glossy on the nails. I don’t think these look gel like,
but on the first day that you wear them they have a visible high gloss finish.
Coming
to fragrance, I’m surprised that none of the reviews I’ve read mentioned this.
The nail polishes have a really strong scent, it’s not even a good scent. They
have a strong, pungent smell that makes me screw up my nose everytime I start
to apply the polish. If you’re sensitive to scents you might not be happy with
this range.
Now, weartime of this range is impressive. I need 2-3 coats of Hasta La Pista &
2 coats of Mint Meringue (though it can be a 1 coater) and the shades wear for
a really long time. I didn’t notice any chipping for 4-5 days. By that time my
nail itself had started to grow so I could see its tip. I think it’s a stellar
wear time for a polish at this price. I’d like to point out that wearing too
many coats (3-4) of these polishes made my nails yellowish so I wouldn’t
recommend the lighter shades for those having unhealthy & brittle nails.
I
have these polishes since mid-November and now I noticed that Hasta La Pista
has gotten really thick whilst Mint Meringue is still easy to work with. I have
to shake Hasta La Pista a lot & even then the polish is not easy to apply.
So keep this in mind whilst purchasing the polishes.

I
think these nail polishes are worth their price because of the nice
formulation, ingredients & long weartime.
Overall
Verdict : 4.3/5
At
first I didn’t like the Nykaa nail polishes because of the scent, but I really
like how long lasting they are. The shades that I have are quite pigmented and
have a nice glossy cream finish. The other shades in the Nykaa nail polish
range are really nice as well, I think they have more unique shades to offer
than most brands. If you’re interested in this range do check it out, just keep
in mind that they have a strong scent. It is worth noting that these polishes
are cruelty free & have a better formula - Toluene, DBP, Formaldehyde,
Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor FREE.
I
have Creme Brulee, Rose Sherbert & Melon Parfait on my wishlist & they
seem perfect for spring-summer season ! Notice how the shade names are of desserts / drinks ?
