The Makeup
Revolution London Iconic 1 Redemption palette was on my wishlist for a long
time because I assumed it would be the dupe of the famous Naked palette - the
original one that started dozens of alternatives after its introduction. I had
a hard time getting the Iconic 1
during sales because it always got sold out first. Then one day I got lucky
& was able to grab it at half-off…score !

Rose Gold Hues : Makeup Revolution London Iconic-3 Redemption Palette // Urban Decay Naked 3 Dupe
Given that the online sales for
makeup are in full glory because of Valentine’s day :eyeroll: I
decided to share my views on this rosy hued palette with
you. I mean, everyone is click-baiting Valentine ’s Day by creating all pink
makeup looks, so why shouldn’t I do the same? If you don’t already know, the
Makeup Revolution Iconic 3 palette was bought by me in 2014 (I love cool toned shadows
as much as warm toned ones!) and it is worth checking out, especially when you
can get it for lesser than the stipulated MRP. I got it for Rs.567 (55%
Off).
The Iconic 3 palette is supposedly a dupe of the Naked 3,
a rosy
toned nude palette. It contains 3 matte and 9 shimmery/metallic
shades.

Review : Inglot Freedom System Bright Matte Eye Shadows 362M,372M,382M + Eye Shadow Base 01
I think what we all love about summer is
the freedom to trot around wearing the fiercest and boldest colors without
standing out. As monsoon slowly descends in India, I got tempted to pay a
tribute to summer by doing a post on 3 lovely, bright & completely droolworthy
summer eye shadows.
Inglot
#362M is a bright bubblegum pink with a matte finish. Though pink eye
shadows make our eyes look sick, this one is actually quite wearable. I
actually purchased it because I wanted to use it along with NYX Kiwi eye shadow
to recreate a look from MAC meets Barbie collection & it’s the perfect
shade. It can be used as blush too I suppose, but the small pan size is a bit
inconvenient to me. I love using it along with #382 (mentioned below) and The Body Shop Color Crush Eye Shadow in Be My Clementine. Together they make a gorgeous sunset look.
Inglot
#372M is a gorgeous matte turquoise color. Its a
beautiful combination of aqua and green. I love using this as a pop of color on
the lower lash line, sometimes I use it over the Maybelline Colossal Turquoise Kohl to make it even brighter. This can also be used wet to make it more
vibrant.
Inglot
#382M is a vibrant deep red color, it is completely matte. It’s a great
color to use in the outer corners whenever you use peachy, pink, orangey or
bronzey colors on your lid. It may seem like an odd shade to have but its
actually pretty versatile & goes well with many warm colors. I tried using
this wet but as you can see from the pan, it didn’t work out :( So do not dip a
wet brush into this shadow)
Price: Rs. 400 / $6.2 each
Qty: 2.7 g / 0.09 oz (1.3g variant is shown here)
Availability: Major Brands | Nykaa
All 362M,
372M shadows have the smoothest matte texture and blend effortlessly. 382M is a bit chalky and
requires a dense fluffy brush to blend well. I have used them with
drugstore brushes as well as expensive ones and they have performed well with
either kind of brush. As you can see from the swatches, they are insanely
pigmented. However I faced a problem when I used them on my lids, which I will
elaborate below.
Inglot
Eye Shadow Base 01:
A
primer helps to create a smooth, oil free canvas for eye shadow application
whereas a base is used to intensify the
color of the eye shadow. If you use a base only, your eye shadow might
crease, but a primer ensures that they won't.
Ingredients:
Price: Rs. 500 / $7.8
Qty: 5.5g / 0.19 oz
Shelf Life 9 months (!!)
Availability: Major Brands | Nykaa
Frankly, the Inglot Eye Shadow Base failed
to impress me when I used it initially: it did not make my eye shadows appear
more pigmented nor did it help in increasing their wear time. I have pigmented
eye lids & despite being bright in swatches and on the pan, the colors
362,372,382 don’t translate the same way on my dark lids. After trying these bright
Inglot shadows over NYX HD Base & even over a white shadow pencil I was
still not impressed because they were not appearing as vibrant as they are in
the pan.
Then one day I tried the eye shadows over this Inglot
Eye Base (that was lying forgotten in my makeup drawer) and I was suuper
impressed. The eyeshadows looked so bright on my lids, exactly as the look in
the pan. If you have pigmented lids like me and your eye shadow base is not
helping you out, do try this out. I
don’t recommend it for all shadows, not even for all Inglot shadows (as the
neutral Inglot eyeshadows work well over any base/primer)…but it’s a perfect partner for the bright Inglot eye shadows that I
have.
Shade
01 is a flesh colored base, 02 is a darker one. Inglot
Eye Shadow Base is a creamy product.
It does not have the same texture as a cream eyeshadow (for ex, Maybelline Eye Shadow Tattoos), its more like a mousse-cum-cream texture wise. I use
a stiff brush to pick out the amount needed, then I apply it in dots over
my lid and under my lids and blend with my ring finger. Since it is so creamy, you need just the tiniest amount otherwise
your eye shadows may end up creasing (unless you use a primer underneath
this base). When I swatch this base on my arm and apply shadows over it, they
don’t look different at all, infact that step is actually unnecessary as the
colors are vibrant in the swatches.
Overall Verdict:
#362M -4/5
#372M - 4/5
#382M -4/5
Eye Makeup Base - 3/5
(1 mark deducted from all for being hard to get!)
The Inglot Freedom System Eye Shadows are really good quality & frankly, they are worth the $6 price. However due to the currency exchange rate being high (value of Rupee is less) they are somewhat pricey in India (Rs.400). I feel that they are worth the investment, because they are really good quality and still cheaper than MUG/MAC. I like to store mine in the Freedom System Z Palette, but they can be stored inside any magnetic palette.
The Inglot Eye Makeup base is quite tricky to use & doesn't work with other eye shadows that I have, however it is really inexpensive compared to similar products in the market so I would recommend you to buy it if you feel that your Inglot shadows are not as vibrant as you would like them to be.
Inglot products are FREE from parabens and are NOT tested on animals.
I wanted to click EOTDs guys, but its so
cloudy outside. Its been that way this whole week in Pune :/ I’m sorry :’(

My thoughts on Sleek
iDivine ‘Oh So Special’ Eye shadow Palette:
Packaging: It comes in a
sleek black case and inside there’s a plastic sheet between the eyeshadows and
the mirror. There are 12 shades in this palette. The names of each shade are
written on the plastic sheet. I do wish that the shade names were written on
the palette instead of that plastic coz anybody is bound to throwaway the
plastic after sometime. It has a sponge tip applicator.
Shades description
There are 7 mattes and 5
shimmery shadows in this palette-the first row has 2 mattes and 4 shimmers and the second row has 5 mattes and one shimmery e/s. I’m going to describe how each color appears
on my skin tone and it might vary slightly on few skintones. All the shimmer
finish eye shadows have fall out.
A summer must have: NYX Single Eye Shadow in Kiwi (Review, Swatch, EOTD and Where to Buy)
If you’re a makeup addict, the best thing about summers is
that you can wear bright colors without everyone staring unnecessarily. I
remember when I first wore Maybelline’s Bold Mat 2 during monsoon, a rude aunty
just kept staring at me..ugh. But we don’t have to worry about that once
summer arrives! I discovered this bright green eyeshadow call NYX Kiwi last
year on Jabong and ever since I got it, I’ve been in love with it. I’m a little
partial to greens because they compliment my brown eyes and in general, they
are way more wearable than most colors for Indian skintones like mine. I
actually couldn’t find any reviews which focussed on just this particular eye
shadow and because I love it so much I decided that I’ll review it. Also, if
like me, people who live in countries where NYX isn’t easily available or isn’t
cheap, need to double check so that they can be sure of what they’re buying,
this review will help you.
Price: Rs.375 (~$6)
Qty: 2.7gm
NYX single eye shadows are not listed on the NYX website but
I seriously hope they’re not discontinued!
Packaging:
Nyx Kiwi is from they’re single eye shadow range. It comes
in a cute square-with-round-edges plastic box with transparent front cover so
you can see the shade with ease. The packaging is ok, I do wish the transparent
plastic didn’t get dirty so easily. The plastic attracts dirt alot :(

~ Inglot Freedom System And My Experience ~
*UPDATE: mybeautyexpress is now crazybeautyland.blogspot.com
“ A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions” Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
Inglot is famous
for its freedom system where you can create your own custom palettes. The
refills are very cheap but the palettes cost a bomb. I’ve come across Inglot
eye shadow refills and blush refills so many times on both Indian and
international blogs that I always wanted to own all a few eye shadows
myself. I did do that, way back in July, I ordered a few refills online, you can read about shopping at majorbrands.in here. You can find at least
a gazillion swatches of all Inglot eye shadows and that makes online shopping a
cake walk. But I didn’t feel like using them yet, I needed a palette! Many of
the blogs I read said that you can store the refills as is in the box they
come, but that wasn’t convenient for me. So I decided to buy a palette, and I
got the time to do that this month only.
Until last week,
I had been to the Inglot store just twice. The first time was when I just
happened to see the store while shopping for other stuff, I had heard so much
about Inglot but I’d never come across the store. I went inside and it was all
so over whelming, the Visual Merchandiser of the store had done a wonderful job.
I ended up just asking about all of their products and walking out, just like
that.
The second time
I went to the same Inglot store, it was quite, umm, memorable? I’m not sure
what adjective to use here, not memorable, something between interesting and
memorable. One of the SA/MUA’s was a guy and he had full on make up; a smokey
eye and I kid you not, GOLD LIPS, and to top it off he was wearing gold pumps.
It was over whelming to look at him and he was assisting me. I ended up buying
only the eye shadow base, because all other people outside the store were
staring and I started to get really, really conscious. I never give a f***
about people’s stares or looks or taunts or whatever, you can’t live in Mumbai
if you don’t ignore all that bullsh*t, but this time it got to me.
So after two not
so eventful visits to the Inglot store, I wasn’t feeling optimistic about my
third visit. And all the online reviews about Inglot stores in general didn’t
help me either; people have said that the SAs force you to buy palettes, they
are rude and inattentive and all that.
The thing is, I
had brought round refills and Inglot has now discontinued these in India as
well. I wanted their large palette in which you can store any type of refills.
So here’s how it went down with the SA:
