Favorite: Carmex Moisture Plus Lip Balm in Berry

I’m back with another Carmex lip balm. I have previously tried the Carmex Moisturizing lip balm & the Ultra Moisturising version (love this one) and I’ve been blown away by the results! I expected the same from the one I’m reviewing today – Carmex Moisture Plus SPF 15 Hydrating Lip Balm, and I’m not disappointed at all!

Like every other girl, I’m a lip balm hoarder. I gots to have them all! Which explains why I paid 1.5 pounds + Rs.400 taxes for this lil baby(I had ordered many other things along with it). To be honest, the custom tax hurts, but I freaking love this lip balm! It’s the Carmex Ultra Moisturizing Lip Balm in Pomegranate.  Its smooth, non-sticky and gives that barely-there feeling on my lips as long as I don’t put on too much of it. Its very cooling (much more than the Carmex tube balm & has a superior formula than it) so it gives that stinging/tingly feeling on the lips. Carmex Ultra Moisturizing lip balm is similar to my favourite EOS egg lip balm, texture wise, EOS is little more balmy, but both feel weightless on the lips. Also, its slightly heavier than the L’Occitane lipbalm.

My Summer Most Used Makeup Products & Favorites...!

This summer I had a lot of fun experimenting with color, my favorites were bright pink, turquoise and yellow. Summers are very humid in Mumbai and the first time I wore a full face of makeup, I was sweating so much, it felt like my face was melting off. There after I decided to go light on base makeup and I’ve just been experimenting to see what works will in the heat, unfortunately sans primer, nothing works for more than 2 hours. Anyways, here’s my most worn makeup for this summer, not all are favourites though, I’ve added my thoughts on each product so you know how I feel about them. I loved using the Rimmel Liquid Cheek Tints because they were quick and fuss free and as long as I’m in ac they last for nearly 5 hours. The Cheeky Glow blush in Fresh Coral is a beautiful pink shade that suits all the pink lipsticks I wore this season. It does have a hint of coral but is mostly a nice brightening pink blush for me.

The Sleek Limited Edition Antique blush is the only disappointing one of the lot, though it looks good it pictures, it has glitter that can travel across your cheek area. However it gives a glowy look to the face and can be used to fake a glow in pictures.

Carmex lip balms are one of the most coveted lip balms in the beauty world! Thanks to ASOS, I was able to lay my hands on them. If you haven’t read it yet, check out my ASOS hauland shopping experience. After taking a zillion pictures of this tiny beauty, I started to use it right away.

Carmex Strawberry lip balm is clear, when put on the lips it provides a cooling effect, like that of plumping lip glosses. It also makes lips look glossy but that tones down soon to a slightly balmy look. The cool feeling takes a while to pass. In spite of the high SPF 15, it doesn’t have a bitter taste. It does have a minty and slightly medicinal scent. Also, its very lightweight on the lips.

In a lip balm, the main thing to look for is whether it moisturizes or hydrates, or does both. Though Carmex Strawberry lip balm claims to just moisturize, I find it hydrating as well. Its one of those healing type of lip balms; once this is off your lips, you’ll realise your lips aren’t chapped anymore. Other lip balms, for example the MNY Baby Lips just protect the lips, they don’t heal already chapped lips.

If it were not for the cooling sensation, I would have absolutely loved to use this lip balm during winters as well. If your living in a place that tends to get really cold, the cooling sensation will tend to make you feel more cold (Brrr!) and might even have the opposite effect-making your lips chapped, or maybe that’s just me :(

Overall Verdict:- 4.5/5

I’m looking forward to enjoying that cooling sensation in the sultry weather. I’ve always felt the colder the winters are, the hotter the summers will be!
