Carmex Ultra Hydrating Lip Balm in Pomegranate

About Carmex:
Originally created in 1937 by Alfred Woelbing in his family kitchen, Carmex lip balm is now essential to our beauty kits. With its iconic canary yellow packaging and retro feel, the classic Carmex healing lip balm pot now sits alongside a host of fruity, squeezable lip salves in cherry, strawberry and orange flavours.

Like every other girl, I’m a lip balm hoarder. I gots to have them all! Which explains why I paid 1.5 pounds + Rs.400 taxes for this lil baby(I had ordered many other things along with it). To be honest, the custom tax hurts, but I freaking love this lip balm! It’s the Carmex Ultra Moisturizing Lip Balm in Pomegranate.  Its smooth, non-sticky and gives that barely-there feeling on my lips as long as I don’t put on too much of it. Its very cooling (much more than the Carmex tube balm & has a superior formula than it) so it gives that stinging/tingly feeling on the lips. Carmex Ultra Moisturizing lip balm is similar to my favourite EOS egg lip balm, texture wise, EOS is little more balmy, but both feel weightless on the lips. Also, its slightly heavier than the L’Occitane lipbalm.

Carmex Ultra Hydrating Lip Balm in Pomegranate Review

Carmex ultra moisturizing lip balm hydrates and moisturizes, which means that it cures chapped lips and keeps your lips soft and hydrated. With a single layer, the lip balm lasts for a good 2-3 hours and my lips feel moisturized for 5-6 hours (I drink water religiously as well). When my lips are very chapped, I apply this generously and I find that its best to sleep thereafter; once I’ve woken up, all the “chapped” parts are gone and my lips are smooth once again. But you don’t need to sleep every time for this to work! I tend to fiddle with my lips quite a bit, so if my lips are severely dry, I apply this before sleeping so that I don’t disturb it. This works really fast to cure chapped lips, just like the EOS lip balm, just make sure you’re being regular with water intake as well. Some lip balms get rid of the chapped parts by letting them fall off, but this one makes them stick right back on your lips, maybe because it has Vit E.

It also contains SPF15, which is very important, but it doesn’t have a distinct taste. It claims to have a fruity flavour though.  It has a light minty fragrance which doesn’t show up during application. Also, it looks yellow in the tube but its colorless when applied. I’ve seen lot of youtubers with smooth, almost lineless bare lips and I’ve always craved that. Again, this could be because it has Vit E, it smoothes out my lower lip and makes it lineless but the lines on my upper lip aren’t affected.

Overall Verdict: 5/5
Overall, I’m very happy with this lip balm. I definitely recommend it over the Carmex tube version and if you’re not able to get your hands on EOS, you’ll find this easier to access through ASOS, Feel Unique etc. which ship free worldwide. However, if you live in India, be prepared to pay a heavy custom tax. I heard its increased to 37% or so! I had gotten it during sale for half-off. Highly recommended! (unless you don’t like strong tingly feeling on your lips)

Available at ASOS HERE with free shipping, also available on other sites but I haven’t ordered from them. I have shopped from ASOS and you can read about my experience here.
