Revlon Matte Balms and Lacquer Balms released a while ago in
India, and I only just got a chance to check them out. In case you’ve missed
them too or they aren’t available in your locality, you can check out all the
shades in this post before you think of placing an order online.
The Revlon Matte Balms come in eight shades in India which are:
- Elusive (205)
- Unapologetic (210)
- Shameless (215)
- Sultry (225)
- Mischievous (235)
- Striking (240)
- Audacious (245)
- Standout (250)
As you can see, they have naughtier names than the Just
Bitten Kissable Balm Stains :P

They are priced at
INR800 for 2.7gm. Its definitely on the pricier side, but then, isn’t
everything in the Indian “drugstore” beauty counter overpriced?
Also these smell minty, like Wriggley's bubblegum.
Now onto the swatches:

Unapologetic (210) - A neon coral pink. Said to be a dupe of
MAC Party Parrot & Impassioned. Looks patchy after application. It’s a very
bright in-your-face kind of color.
Audacious (245) – A creamy orange. This applied smoothly, it
looks uneven in the swatch though. I think this one will suit just fair skin tones.
Striking (240) – A orangey-red. This one seems a little
sheer compared to Standout, but I can’t say for sure. This will suit all skin tones
imo.
Mischievous (235) – A light pastel orange. Seriously? What
was the Revlon color forecasting team thinking
when they made this color and released it in India? It reminds me of one of the
pastel oranges that Alia Bhatt wore in 2 States, and I hated the lip color even
then! Not only that, its application is the most patchy, just compare its
swatch to the others. Will suit only fair skin tones

Standout (250) – A slightly deep red. It will look deeper on
fairer skin tones. Its one of the few matte balms which applies smoothly and
doesn’t look patchy or uneven after application. This color will suit all
skin tones.
Elusive (205) – A rosy pink color, applies smoothly. Will
suit fair to medium skin tones, may make deeper skin tones look more tanned.
Shameless (215) - A true purple color! Probably the only
true purple in the Indian drugstore. Applies smoothly, but looks a bit uneven.
It will suit all skin tones, but I feel this kind of color can make fair skin
toned ladies look really pale and goth. Nevertheless, its such a fun color and
its purple, my favorite :)
Sultry (225) – A medium pink that looks little mauvey. Said to be a dupe of MAC Twig.
This one was also one of the smoothest to apply. I think this one will suit all
skin tones but will look deeper on fairer skintones. It’s a everyday kind of shade.
Its very hard to make a matte that isn’t drying and I’m
curious to know what a ‘matte balm’ feels like! After swatching, a lot of the
shades and finishes disappointed me. There were so many fun colors that Revlon
could have come up with IMO. Like fuchsia, peach, pinky-red, a true red, raspberry, plum and so
on…
Based on the finish and color, the ones that I liked are:
Shameless, Sultry and Standout. I did pick one up, and I hope its good :)
