Maybelline released the Color Show Glitter Mania range last
week and you can read about the entire range here. I love glitter nail polishes
and though summer isn’t the time when I sport them I couldn’t resist picking up
a few of them. The colors are really nice and different from the other glitter
nail polishes out there (at least in Mumbai) and all of them seemed to be
packed with glitter! To top it off they come at a really economical price so
there’s literally nothing to stop you from buying it, unless it’s not already
available at your local Maybelline counter. One of the shades I purchased is
‘All that Glitters’ which is a lovely pale gold color.
The Color Show Glitter Mania nail polishes have the same
packaging as the plain Color Show range, except that the caps have ‘Glitter
Mania’ written on one end. The wand fans out well didn’t give any problems
during application. ‘All that Glitters’ is a lovely pale gold color. It is
packed with gold and silver micro glitter and silver hexagonal (or circular?)
glitter. All the glitter gives it a gritty texture and warrants the need of a
top coat. Because it is so intensely packed with glitter, I’m confused as to
whether the base color is primarily a pale shimmery gold or is just colorless with
silver and gold glitter. Its not the same color as Bold Gold and will suit a
wider variety of skin tones because of both silver and gold in it. Also, it
doesn’t make my fingers look darker, which Bold Gold had a tendency of doing.
I’m happy to report that ‘All that Glitters’ is intensely
packed with glitter and gives a blingy look to the nails. Its not as heavy and
three dimensional as say, the Sally Hansen Gem Crush range but even one coat is
enough to fully cover my nails. I would however advice two coats as it is a
drugstore nail polish and won’t last long on a single coat. It doesn’t take
long to dry on the nails.
I found that during
application, All That Glitters is similar to Sally Hansen’s ‘Rockstar Pink’. It
kind of thickens up during application which it makes it difficult to apply
evenly on the nails and that is visible on my middle finger in the NOTDs. This is the problem I've faced in nailpolishes which have loads of glitter.
Since this is bursting with glitter, you will definitely
find it difficult to remove if you apply more coats. A tried and trusted method
to remove glitter nail polishes is the ‘Foil Method’, which you can Google
about.
Overall Verdict:
4.8/5
I’m super impressed with ‘All that Glitters’. Its nicely packed
with glitter and looks really good on the nails. I feel that its very good
quality yet budget friendly. Except for the tiny problem that I faced during
application, I have no qualms with this range. I highly recommend you all to
try at least one shade from this range, they have really great colors and I’m
sure you’ll love it!
