Today I’ll be telling you about one of my all-time favourite
nail colors, especially for summers, though I have worn it in winters as well.
Ever since I saw a pastel yellow nail polish by Inglot, I was besotted! I knew
I had to have that in my collection. But my vanity is a bit conscious; I wasn’t
ready to spend Rs.600($10) on a nail polish, though in hindsight it seems
more logical! I tried to find a budget friendly pastel yellow and after a lot
of searching I found Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow (360) in their Hard as Nails
Xtreme Wear range.
There are 45 colors in the Hard as
Nails Xtreme Wear range.
Mellow Yellow is a bright pastel yellow color! It is the
prettiest, not-in-your-face kind of yellow I’ve come across. The best part is
that its not overly expensive. I got it for Rs.250(~$4). If you love bright shades,
you must try out a color like this,
instantly cheers you up! I’m not a fan of the bright, proper yellow because it
won’t suit my tanned arms, this relatively paler shade goes really well with my
skin tone.
If you’re wondering where to find Sally Hansen in India, its
available in Westside and Lifestyle. Right now they have a 25% off on select
styles(in Mumbai). I don’t know how the Sally Hansen counters are elsewhere,
but in Mumbai, the SAs open all the nail polishes and let you use them. None of
them are sealed. An SA even opened a sealed product to show me how it works. Not cool. But I’m going to blame the
company here, they should provide testers as their products are not exactly
cheap in India.
I have this Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow since December and I
have used it couple of times then and stopped using it in between. I started
using it for summers but after some uses it became really thick and goopy (see pics of the bottle) and should
have been salvaged by a nail polish thinner, but sadly it is still thick.
I love the color a lot
and I will buy a new bottle soon because its impossible to get a neat finish with this now (refer to the notds)! Which means 250+250
rupees which is less than the Inglot polish by Rs. 100. Still, I feel the Inglot one
would be much better in quality. If you
have used both Sally Hansen & Inglot polishes, please let me know which one
is better, it will help me make the correct choice next time!
For the ‘Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear’ claim, all I can say is
that it isn’t long lasting on my nails, it lasts for 3 days before the tip
begins to fade, but that’s the case with most nail polishes on my nails so
maybe it will stay longer on you.
Overall Verdict:
Color-5/5, Quality-2/5
If you’re planning to buy a Sally Hansen nail polish in India, make
sure it hasn’t been opened by an SA beforehand! :P
