Street Wear Color Rich Ultramoist Lipstick in Spell Bound (27) and Ruby Riddle (9) Review, Swatches, Photos

Street Wear recently revamped its collection and made it a lot more attractive!! Even then, I wasn’t tempted to purchase anything from them, because I felt that at the prices they are sold at, the quality would definitely leave something to be desired. However, when I casually strolled towards the Revlon counter to check out the new collection, I couldn’t resist taking a peak at the new Street Wear collection. One thing lead to another and soon I was swatching one lipstick after another, searching for some shade that I didn’t already have and finally I brought two shades. You should have seen my hand!! I had a hard time getting the colors off, the SAs don’t even have a good makeup remover. The lipstick range is called ‘Color Rich Ultramoist Lipstick’.If you’re wondering where to find this collection, I found one Street Wear counter at Lifestyle, it was a part of the Revlon counter.  The reason why I picked up these colors, inspite of my apprehensions, is that I was looking for two colors- a peach for my skintone and an everyday pink, and after swatching two shades, I felt that I’d hit jackpot, cause I certainly couldn’t find these colors in any other drugstore brand!

My take on Street Wear Color Rich Ultramoist Lipstick in Spell Bound (27) and Ruby Riddle (9):

The packaging:

They are sealed and packaged in separate cases with a transparent cap. The lipstick bullet is longer than its casing and if you’re in a hurry, the lipstick might get accidently nicked by the cap :( Other than that, I have no issues with the packaging. The transparent cap lets you see the color of the lipstick bullet

The design on the cap carries the comic image of a girl, there are 4 different comic characters, I don’t know what they’re names are. Both the shades I have have different characters on their caps! Spell Bound (27) has a brunette with pink lipstick and Ruby Riddle (9) has a black haired beauty with a red lipstick.

The colors & pigmentation:
Spell Bound (27):
Spell bound is a very deceptive color. It looks like a nice medium pink in the tube. It seems like a nice everyday, medium to deep pink from the swatches. But on my lips, Spell Bound is a bright pink color! I was hoping that this would be my every day pink but this turned out to be a bright pink that in turn brightens up the complexion.

I like it because I don’t have anything like it and who can say no to a color that livens up the complexion? I did feel a little ‘spell bound’ by the color! It’s quite wearable and not a bang-on bright color like the Maybelline Bold Mattes.

Ruby Riddle (9):
I suppose Ruby Riddle was supposed to be a brick red color, or something, but on me, it’s a nice peach color. It does have some undertones of red as you can see in the swatch, but they don’t show up on my lips. I love this color! I’ve been searching for a peach that suits my skin tone and that I can use for everyday wear and this color fits the bill perfectly!

I’m sorry that from the swatch you can’t make out the exact color, I’ve used this in an upcoming review and you can see how it looks on me then.

The pigmentation is good, but both shades don’t completely cover my pigmented lips, there’s a slight difference still visible but only in close up pics.

The Texture & finish:
Both the Street Wear Color Rich Ultramoist lipsticks that I have have got a matte finish, quite unlike what the name of the range would lead you to think. They aren’t ‘moisturizing’ at all to me and overtime, they can get quite drying, as all matte lipsticks do. Texture wise I found that the lipsticks are quite smooth to apply and apply evenly. They do settle in lip lines sometimes and since they are matte, you must exfoliate your lips before use.

Weartime:
Spell Bound (27) stays for a really long time on my lips and it survives small snacks as well. It leaves a soft pink stain which wears off soon. I think this will last for a good 5-6 hours.
Ruby Riddle (9) on the other hand had a really poor wear time. It stayed for around 2 hours only and faded away even though I hadn’t eaten anything. Since I loved the color so much I was really disappointed with its poor staying power. From my experience, subtle and lighter colors mostly stay on the lips for lesser time.

Overall Verdict:
Spell Bound- 4.4/5, Ruby Riddle-3.9/5

I love both the shades I chose-Spell Bound is a bright pink and Ruby Riddle is a peach. Their texture is smooth and gives an even application although I wish the formula wasn’t drying. I think that the Street Wear Color Rich Ultramoist Lipstick range has an amazing array of colors and everyone can find a color they’re looking for here. It’s a nice budget friendly option for college girls. I’m sure that the brighter colors from the range will stay on for longer.  You must definitely check out the Street Wear counter, you just might find a color you’ve been longing to own, and for Rs.180, it won’t do much damage to your wallet!
