Last weekend, I got the opportunity
to try out Four Fountains De-Stress Spa and I’d like to share my experience
with you. I went to the Powai branch, which is moderately easy to locate because of the banner outside the building. If you're confused, you can always call the spa and ask for directions.
From my visit, I can conclude that
Four Fountains is really serious about de-stressing. The waiting area has a
backrest which has been specially handcrafted using wooden beads to massage the
back. There is an aroma of lemon grass diffused throughout the spa, I’m a huge
fan of citrus-y scents. The door handles massage pressure points on the palm
which releases pent up stress and right after your spa is complete, you are
served green tea which helps to stay relaxed. The ambiance has mostly wooden
bits and bobs, like a cabinet housing some candles and show-pieces.

After a couple of minutes of
waiting, my masseuse (Monteshwari) guided me to the room and let me
change into disposable undergarments and disposable towel wrap. There was a
small locker in the room to store personal belongings. Once I changed my clothes, I rang the bell to let the masseuse know I was ready. The session begun once
the masseuse began her work. I was also asked if I wanted lights on or off. I
can be really prudish in front of strangers so I obviously chose the option to
switch off the lights, if you’re anything like me, you’ll love this part. I'd like to add that your body is never fully exposed during the massage, only the part which is being massaged is, the rest is covered with the disposable towel and of course, the disposable undergarments.
During the massage, the masseuse paid
special attention to whichever areas I requested. For each section of my body, she
asked me whether the pressure was comfortable or did I want more or less
pressure. I had chosen a light pressure massage because some parts of my body
can start paining a lot if more pressure is applied. But the flexibility to choose
the amount of pressure each body part should receive made the task so much more
simpler. I requested for more pressure on arms and legs and my lower back and
light pressure on my neck, belly, upper back and forehead.
these pretty flowers are right below the headrest, so you can see them when you're lying upside down |
Since my back was a special concern
she spent a good amount of time massaging it. I didn't feel as relieved on my
back as I felt on my arms and legs. I especially liked the feet massage and I
think that the 'foot reflexology' treatment here might be heavenly too. I
finally understood what it means to have your arms and legs feel like jelly,
cause mine surely did after the massage. There were times when I found some massage techniques ticklish on some areas and my masseuse switched to other techniques that didn't feel so ticklish. Usually masseurs ignore the body part that’s ticklish and move on to others, but I’m glad Monteshwari tried out more techniques to put me at ease.
There were a two of short comings. Firstly, I disliked the music being played. Secondly, the “aroma” of
the aromatherapy didn't come through. I expected to get a whiff of exotic essential oils, but the
scent of lemongrass that’s infused throughout the spa overpowered the aroma of
the oils. Before bath, I did smell my body but I couldn’t detect any distinct
aroma. Speaking of bath, there’s a tiny bathroom in the room, and you are also
provided with towel, shampoo and body wash to clean off the oil. You can also
request for a hair dryer or shower cap.
After I had
finished bathing, I was escorted to the reception again where I was served
green tea. The Spa Doctor gave me a prescription, similar to what doctors give
us. She mentioned what diet I should follow and what exercise I should do
daily. She also gave me a gel to use while doing the exercises. Her
recommendation was that I should de stress every 2 weeks. Frankly, I was blown
away by the care taken even after the massage. More than anything, this
convinced me that the Four Fountains Spa is really serious about de-stressing
and cares about each customer beyond their office as well.
the diet recommended to me was #1, there are different diets according to your needs & stress level |
exercises chart, there are so many in here. I was told to do the ones for back pain and de-stressing |
the gel, I like to use it to massage my neck. |
