Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in Coral Craze (211) - Review, Photos, NOTD, Price in India

Since summer is here its officially time to bring out your brights and put away your darks. Out go the midnight blues, plums and greys and in come the pinks, corals, pastels and neons. I’ve already blogged about my favourite bright pink nail polish for summer – TheFaces Matte Nail Enamel in Candyfloss(which I can’t get enough of BTW), but summers are kind of incomplete sans corals, right? I’ve had Maybelline Color Show nail polish in Coral Craze since January, when I did a Slassy.com haul, but I didn’t feel like wearing it till the sun started beating down upon us and announcing the arrival of summer. I swear, the heat this year is relentless, and there's nothing like bright and pretty makeup to change you mood instantly!

My Experience with Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in Coral Craze:

Coral Craze is a creamy orangey-coral color which has a high shine that stayed till I removed it off on the third day. But it takes a lot of time to dry. There were a lot of cloth marks on my nails even 30min after putting the nail polish.

The finish is creamy and applies very smoothly. I wasn’t into the color at first, I felt it didn't suit my skin tone, but I’ve received lot of compliments while wearing it, so its begun to grow on me. I really like the shiny finish of Coral Craze because I don’t need to spend extra time to put on a topcoat.

I experienced tip fading on the third day, which is typical for a drugstore product. I love pairing this color against denims, especially light blue ones (like the one in the picture below), and if I ever buy a denim jacket, I’d wear Coral Craze on my nails to go with it.

Overall Verdict: 4/5

Like all Color Show nail polishes, Coral Craze is reasonably priced. It is a creamy coral color, applies nicely and has high shine. It stays for 3 days on my nails before fading at the tips. I think it’s a good color to try if you are on the hunt for a coral color (who isn’t?), its not exactly a unique color, but its price and quality make it stand out.

­­I’ve never tried any fancy hair oils for my hair.  I always feel they’re all talk with nothing to show. I had been thinking of getting argan oil though, but its hard to find that in India at a reasonable price. While I was contemplating buying the L’Oreal Hair Spa oil, L’Oreal India released this Extraordinary oil featuring 6 nutritive oils. Since its more easier to get because it doesn’t require me to go to a L’Oreal Salon, I picked it up. Its priced lesser than the Hair Spa oils and claims to have more nutritive benefits.

My take on L'Oreal 6 Oil Nourish Extraordinary Oil:

My hair type: mildly oily scalp, dry ends, naturally shiny and strong. Naturally straight as well, but its wavy on many days. My hair is somewhere between thick and thin.

Lakme Eyeconic 10 Hr Kajal in Brown- Review,Price, Photos, EOTD

Let me start this rant review by saying that I’m one of those few girls in India who doesn’t like to put black kohl/kajal on her water line or under it or over it, unless I’m smoking it out. Yes, I detest black kajal for myself. Why? Because I’ve seen too much of it put wrongly throughout my school & highschool years. Girls would apply black kohl on their waterline and lower lash line and eventually it would smudge and they’d all have racoon eyes, and they still wouldn’t wash it off! I love my Lakme Eyeconic Black kajal, its so creamy and its such an intense black, but I’d never wear it alone! I always wear it over a complementary eyeshadow, and I almost always soften it to a smokey eye look.

That’s why I’ve been on the hunt for an affordable multipurpose brown liner & kohl, to be precise I’ve wanted a twin of the Eyeconic Black, but in brown color. I’ve contemplated trying out the L’Oreal pencil, the Colorbar one , Faces Long Wear one etc.. But the price has always stopped me. And then Lakme decided to do exactly what I was thinking- releasing Eyeconic Kajal in more shades. Needless to say, I brought this as soon as it arrived at the Lakme counter near my house, way back in January.

L'Oreal Paris Shine Caresse Lip Color in India in shade Milady(603) - Review, swatches, photos

Remember when I blogged about the latest beauty trends and launches here? I had mentioned lipstick-lipgloss hybrids launched in India. The L’Oreal Shine Caresse Lip Colors are the hottest hybrids at the moment! Why? Well just take a look at them! They will make the most stern shopper go weak kneed! Not only does it look like the ultimate lip accessory to have, its supposed to be a dupe of the YSL Glossy Stains. Now tell me you aren’t jumping up and down and yelling ‘take my money already!’ :P And yes, I’m absolutely guilty of falling head over heels for these beauties! I immediately picked up two of them and let me tell you it was hard deciding between the colors although the L’Oreal counter had just four shades. In the end I went for a vibrant pink and a lovely orchid color, although the orange one was tempting me(maybe next time you will be mine :P).

My take on L’Oreal Shine Caresse Lip Color in ‘Milady (603)’

The Packaging:

The Shine Caresse lip color is housed in a shiny gold tube with a little transparent band that allows a glimpse of the color within. It’s a beauty, you will love having this pretty tube in your collection! If you plan to own many of these tubes, you can easily locate a shade without having to read the cap for the name. 

The applicator is the cutest thing ever! The sponge tip is bud shaped, the centre has a little dip so that it can hold the product. The sponge tip of the applicator is the same color as the lip color, which is another small detail that L’Oreal has paid attention to. Its not just impressive looks here, the applicator is easy to use and precisely deposits color on the lips.

Nails! ~Faces Matte Nail Enamel in Candyfloss Matte (155)- Review, photos

  Matte makeup is one of the trending looks for summer 2014. Well obviously no one wants to hang out on a summery day with a shiny face which can almost always be misconstrued as oiliness, its just plain unattractive! When your oily skinned like me, mastering the glowy look can get tricky during summers, so its best to give a miss to that trend and try out a much simpler one: the matte look. If your having trouble with the finer details, I suggest check this video by Michelle Phan where she goes matte, forehead to chin, along with a matte nail polish top coat too! That got me wondering, where in India can you find matte nail polishes within a budget? Not a lot of places! I have blogged MNY Color Show in Denim Dash, which is a matte nail polish and today I’m gonna blog about another – Faces Matte Nail Enamel in Candyfloss (155).

My take on Faces Candyfloss Matte nail Enamel:

Candyfloss Matte in actually a bright fuchsia color. The matte finish tones down the intensity of the color, making it more wearable. I think it’s an excellent color for summer. These colors make your fingers look darker, but the pop of color is absolutely worth it. I love pairing this with pale pastel blue(that’s the top in the picture). If you are wearing a single colored dress in say, white or black or pastel baby blue or maybe denims(another SS14 trend) this color will pull your look together!

Avon Solutions Oil Free Complete Balance Gel Crème - Review, Photos

During winter, I slather moisturizer like there’s no tomorrow, like its gonna be winter for the rest of the year (I wish!). More than compulsion, it’s the feeling of spreading creams, lotions and other potions on your body and slowly massaging it in.. it feels so relaxing and lazy, just like a winter day! Its important to moisturize you skin and face all year, but no season demands it more than winter!

This winter I tried a new face moisturizer for night time – Avon Solutions Oil Free Complete Balance Gel Crème. Its meant for oily combination skin. My skin is combination type but it becomes normal during winters.

The packaging:

This moisturizer comes in a glass jar with a mirror finish cap, it quite attractive. The mirror finish of the cap is excellent and though it is prone to catching a little dust, its nice to have a handy mirror. The glass jar is bulky and not travel friendly, but then, 50gm of a product isn’t something you travel around with. 

Given the finish of the crème, I feel that it could easily be housed in a tube or a pump-bottle packing, rather than a jar which requires you to dip your fingers every time you need some product. Its not hygienic. Also, no stopper has been provided.

I hope that through this post I can spread a little hope to any of you who are waiting since a while for your package from overseas to be delivered. When I placed an order with Sleek Makeup last year(in October) I came quite close to losing my money because the package didn’t reach me. (One of my most coveted...) Carmex Moisturizing Lip Balm in Strawberry- Review, Swatch, Photos

Carmex lip balms are one of the most coveted lip balms in the beauty world! Thanks to ASOS, I was able to lay my hands on them. If you haven’t read it yet, check out my ASOS hauland shopping experience. After taking a zillion pictures of this tiny beauty, I started to use it right away.

Company Claims & Directions of use (taken from the packaging)

Carmex Strawberry lip balm is clear, when put on the lips it provides a cooling effect, like that of plumping lip glosses. It also makes lips look glossy but that tones down soon to a slightly balmy look. The cool feeling takes a while to pass. In spite of the high SPF 15, it doesn’t have a bitter taste. It does have a minty and slightly medicinal scent. Also, its very lightweight on the lips.

In a lip balm, the main thing to look for is whether it moisturizes or hydrates, or does both. Though Carmex Strawberry lip balm claims to just moisturize, I find it hydrating as well. Its one of those healing type of lip balms; once this is off your lips, you’ll realise your lips aren’t chapped anymore. Other lip balms, for example the MNY Baby Lips just protect the lips, they don’t heal already chapped lips.

If it were not for the cooling sensation, I would have absolutely loved to use this lip balm during winters as well. If your living in a place that tends to get really cold, the cooling sensation will tend to make you feel more cold (Brrr!) and might even have the opposite effect-making your lips chapped, or maybe that’s just me :(

Overall Verdict:- 4.5/5

I’m looking forward to enjoying that cooling sensation in the sultry weather. I’ve always felt the colder the winters are, the hotter the summers will be!
