I purchased a few
Zoeva eye brushes last year from Luxola, its one of the first purchases I madefrom that site. I haven't purchased anything more from them (except for a Beauty Blender) because the prices are now insane! When it first launched in India, Luxola was so affordable...
Zoeva 227 Luxe Soft Definer Brush
This brush is
supposedly a dupe of MAC 217 / Sigma E25. Luxola states that the 227 brush is
made from goat hair however the Zoeva website states that it is a
natural-synthetic hair mix. I opt for natural hair bristles for blending
brushes (if there is a choice) because I
read that they are work better during blending than other hair. 227 is a oval shaped fluffy tapered blending brush. Its good for blending in the crease of your eye, I also use it to
add darker color to the outer crease and blend it in. This brush was super
soft, but I feel it can get scratchy sometimes during use, which is
disappointing. When I wash it & let it dry, it looks so large & I’m
always worried it might loose its shape, however my fears have remained unfound
because it has managed to retain its shape every time. That said, it does have
a couple of hairlicks. I don’t think it has ever shed.
Zoeva 228 Luxe Crease Brush
The 228 crease brush
is a round blending brush. It is super soft and has stayed that way after washes.
228 is great for applying and blending color right in the crease. Because the
bristles taper to a pointed tip, it is more precise than the 227 Soft Definer
Brush although they both mostly serve the same purpose. I also like to use it
to contour my nose, and to apply contour powder underneath my cheekbones which
I later blend out using the Real Techniques Contour brush. I have the 228 brush
that was made with dark goat hair and it is extremely soft. However, this is an
old version of the brush. They new 228 Crease Brush is made of white goat hair & I’ve
read that it is quite scratchy! This brush has not shed on me & it has maintained
its shape & softness after multiple washes.
Zoeva 230 Luxe Pencil Brush
I specifically purchased a pencil brush to apply eye shadow
on the lower lash line & it’s great for this purpose. 230 Luxe Pencil Brush
feels a bit pokey although its bristles are soft. If used along its
sides, it does not feel scratchy, if you use it with its tip towards your face,
it will feel prickly. According to Luxola, it is made from pony hair. If I’m
not using it for eye makeup, I tend to use it for applying concealer to small
blemishes & highlighting my nose. Its small size ensures precise
application of these products. The Zoeva 230 Luxe Pencil Brush has not shed &
it has maintained its shape after multiple washes.
Product vs Price :
Price : Rs. 945 /$ 14.2 each
All three brushes are 16cm in size & come with a ziplock
bag each. All of them are available in India through Luxola. When I purchased them,
they costed just Rs.575 ($8.6) and I did not mind buying them at that price. However,
I can’t say the same for the current price. I recommend buying any one of
these if you absolutely need it.
I would definitely suggest trying out some of those beauty
shops like Beauty Palace / Beauty Centre (if they are in your city) for similar
brushes.
Overall Verdict :
Zoeva 227 Luxe Soft Definer Brush : 3.5 / 5
Zoeva 228 Luxe Crease Brush : 5 / 5
Zoeva 230 Luxe Pencil Brush : 4 / 5
