Kryolan Lip N Cheek cream in Lily / Review, Ingredients, Swatches

My love for Kryolan products has been well documented on my blog. Its natural to want to explore a brand more once its products work out well for you. And if the brand is not a heavily-priced one like Kryolan, there’s a lot of options to choose from. Last year I picked up this Lip & Cheek cream from Kryolan in the lovely shade ‘Lily’

The first few times when I tried to use this Kryolan Lip & Cheek cream, all I would get it is some light oil from the tube. This went on for weeks in spite of me shaking the tube before use. Finally I think the oil got exhausted and so the color started coming out :) I saw that other bloggers did not face this problem with the Kryolan Lip & Cheek creams so it maybe an issue with my piece only !

SHADE ~ On swatching, Lily is a lovely vibrant coral-pink shade. After blending it out you can see that it leaves a soft pink hue. I used a little quantity to blend out. The shade is very pigmented so if you use the quantity shown in the swatch, you will end up with bright pink cheeks ! I love the color a lot & it’s a great shade for everyday wear, even to the office when used in moderation. Because of how the color can be built up, I think it will suit a variety of skintones. On lips, you will need to build it up if you have pigmented lips.

TEXTURE ~  Since this is a lip & cheek cream, It doesn’t have a liquid-gel consistency like The Body Shop Lip & Cheek stain, but its texture is more runny compared to the Rimmel Stay Blushed cheek tints. The Kryolan Lip & Cheek cream feels like a lightweight cream product and it is easy to blend out. Once blended, it settles to a powder finish. You do not need to rush to blend this product out. Even beginners will not find this hard to use ! It doesn’t feel heavy or oily on my cheeks at all. Now, I’m not fond of using this on my lips because it settles to a powder finish, but it easily glides onto lips when used straight from the tube.

WEARTIME ~ Kryolan claims that this product is water resistant, and it is. I tried to wash off the swatch first using water & then water+soap but it did not come off. However the blended part did significantly fade. This explains the behavior of the product when worn on cheeks. Since I use a small quantity, it wears of soon, sometime around 3-4hrs. If I use a greater amount, it may last longer.

PACKAGING ~ I really like that this cream is in a tube, this way you can get most from your product and its hygienic too ! You can see the shade from the tube, so if you have multiple colors you won’t have a problem picking out a particular one. The shade & ingredients are mentioned in the outer box packaging, along with the product description.

PRODUCT vs PRICE
Price : Rs.500 / $7.46
Qty : 10ml / 0.34 fl.oz.
Shelf Life : 12 months
Availability : As always, this is a problem with Kryolan products, but if you have a store in your city or even those beauty shops that sell international goodies, you can find Kryolan products :) In Mumbai you can buy Kryolan products at the Kryolan store (Bandra), Beauty Palace (Crawford, Andheri W), Beautiful (Lokhandwala) & Khar Beauty Centre.
It feels pricey for the quantity especially since it doesn’t last long, but I think its priced much reasonably compared to drugstore brands.

OVERALL VERDICT : 4/5
I like the texture of the Kryolan Lip & Cheek creams for using as a blush. I’m not fond of using them on my lips because of its cream-to-powder finish, but since matte liquid lipsticks are the rage nowadays, you can use a 2-in-1 product like this to try out the trend. If you’re not happy with it as a lip cream, you can always use it as a blush
