Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush in Fresh Coral - Review, Swatches, Photos

*UPDATE: mybeautyexpress is now crazybeautyland.blogspot.com

Maybelline is slowly becoming my go to brand for good and more importantly, affordable products. You can expect a lot to see a lot of Maybelline products here because at the moment, I’m all about affordability. I might pamper myself, this being holiday season and new year’s and what not, but I already got a gift… a camera! So I’m gonna focus on what I already have in my collection and after I’m done with all of them, well most of them, I’ll move on to new products. Somehow, I don’t have that itch anymore, you know, that “I-MUST-have-this” feeling.

Coming back to Maybelline, I brought their Cheeky Glow Blush in Fresh Coral when it was released. Well, my sister brought it for me and I bided my time till it reached me in my hostel. What a cute name, fresh coral, like fresh rose or fresh lily! Like Every Other Girl, I love corals too, its one color that can brighten up anyone’s look. Every girl needs a few coral blushes, right?

My take on Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush in Fresh Coral:

The packaging:-

Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush in Fresh Coral

It’s a really basic packaging, a white plastic case with a transparent lid, so if you own more than one of these blushes, you can identify them without having to read the label, which is present on the underside and mentions the quantity, code and mfg date. It definitely looks cute, like a college girl accessory, its small, lightweight and convenient to carry in your purse. It’s not really sturdy, I can’t say what will happen once it drops, but I don’t think it will be anything good.

I got a tiny pink pouch and a brush when I purchased it, I’m 100% sure that brush ain’t made by Maybelline, it has something which looks like hay in it…eww

The color:-

In the pan it’s a matte classic coral pink color. I’m sure many of you will already have lipsticks and dresses matching it, I do too! It’s a warm color and will suit Indian beauties nicely, its actually more pink than coral, as you can see in the swatches, so it will suit a wide range of skin tones

Another bonus is that its matte, so you can wear it to your college or work with out looking made up.

The texture, application:-
It has a soft, smooth texture, I really like that its not powdery and you don’t get powder everywhere when you swirl your brush in the pan. I found it easy to apply, its decently pigmented so you don’t need to pick up a lot of product. Its easy to blend too. The only problem I had is that it didn’t show up on photos as it did in person, so for the photos I had to layer it, so that it would show up. The blush is not silky, as Maybelline claims, but it definitely gives a natural finish.

Weartime:-
I have a combination-oily skin but now, since its winters, my skin is normal(yay!) and after four hours I could still see the blush on my cheeks. I think that’s a good weartime for a blush this economical. I don’t mind having to touch up after four hours because I’d be doing that anyways for my lipstick by then.

The drive-through review:-

Pros:-
  • Small packaging, convenient to carry around
  • It has a good quantity -7g
  • Nice color with a matte finish, will suit a lot of skin tones
  • It has a nice texture, smooth but not powdery
  • Easy to blend, decently pigmented
  • I don’t think these are sold outside India, yet. So yay for us Indians, we finally have something everyone else don’t already have!!
  • Its available in 3 basic shades - pinky-coral, peach and terracotta
Cons:-
  • The packaging is not sturdy, likely to crack once it falls
  • Wear time is less- 4 hours, will be lesser for oily skinned beauties
Overall Verdict:- 4/5
For the price it retails at, it’s an exceptionally good blush- the color, pigmentation and texture, blendability, quantity are not compromised. If you are looking for a budget friendly blush this is a really good buy. The only con is that its not long lasting, but if you don’t mind touching up once in few hours, that’s not a problem either!
